About the Author
Let Me Introduce Myself
A late-blooming writer now in retirement, it took me more than five years to write this trilogy, a fascinating story set in the world of the transgender community. Combining the written word with the spoken word, the words of the mind with those of the heart—that is what best defines this stage of my life’s journey.
As a teenager, my idol was Bruce Jenner, an extraordinary athlete with undeniable charisma; he was the gold medalist in the decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He surprised the whole world by publicly announcing his desire to transition to become a woman at the age of sixty-five!
Aside from an autobiographical essay dedicated to my children, “AFTER” is my first step into writing. That’s how the project took shape, slowly. Intrigued and curious, Jenner was my starting point, but not my destination. And, from a single book to a trilogy, this story between a man and a transgender woman is anything but ordinary. The more I learned about this community, the more the story’s contours took shape, the more I understood just how colossal a challenge it would be to be at the heart of their lives. For a transgender person, living authentically in order to achieve a certain sense of fulfillment is no simple matter.
The story behind AFTER
In July 1976, in Montreal, Canada, American athlete Bruce Jenner won the most coveted gold medal at the Olympic Games: the decathlon. He was my idol and the idol of millions of others. He was the image of a powerful, invincible man, an extraordinary athlete with unique charisma and a presence that inspired envy and admiration in everyone.
Then came the shock. During an interview broadcast on ABC in April 2015, he revealed to Dyane Sawyer what he had kept secret all his life: his desire to be a woman, at the age of sixty-five!
This event marked a turning point in the history of transgender representation. It was during the annual sports excellence awards ceremony that Caitlyn Jenner made her first appearance on television as a woman. She was honored at this event with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Faced with this reality, like millions of people who witnessed this surreal moment, I could not conceive or understand the courage of a globally idolized athlete, with a wife and ten children, to make the decision to change sex, especially at such an advanced age!
This story inspired me to write a trilogy entitled ‹AFTER›, a work of fiction based on real events in the world of transgender people. It’s a unique, improbable, even impossible love story full of unexpected twists and turns.

Here, Gabriel is slowly but surely sinking into a bottomless abyss. What has become of this man of his former glory? What will be the outcome of his relationship with Jasmine? What will his parents decide? Not to mention the numerous clashes with his friend Martin and the company employees!
After - The Choice
Gaby has caused a lot of damage to those around him. Is it too late to mend fences? He’s heartbroken by their reactions and the prejudices they have towards the way his life has turned out. What will his future hold, and how will he get out of this mess he’s created for himself?
So who is at the center of this final volume? And once the choice is made, once it is accepted, what will happen?
