Il \u00e9tait mon idole, comme celle de millions d\u2019autres personnes. Il incarnait l\u2019image d\u2019un homme puissant et invincible, un athl\u00e8te exceptionnel au charisme unique et \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence qui inspirait admiration et respect.<\/p><p>Puis vint le choc.<\/p><p>Lors d\u2019une entrevue diffus\u00e9e sur ABC en avril 2015, il r\u00e9v\u00e9la \u00e0 Diane Sawyer le secret qu\u2019il avait gard\u00e9 toute sa vie : son d\u00e9sir d\u2019\u00eatre une femme, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de soixante-cinq ans.<\/p><p>Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement marqua un tournant dans l\u2019histoire de la repr\u00e9sentation des personnes transgenres. C\u2019est lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie annuelle des ESPY Awards que Caitlyn Jenner fit sa premi\u00e8re apparition t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9e en tant que femme. \u00c0 cette occasion, elle re\u00e7ut le prestigieux Arthur Ashe Courage Award.<\/p><p>Face \u00e0 cette r\u00e9alit\u00e9, comme des millions de personnes qui furent t\u00e9moins de ce moment aussi surprenant qu\u2019inattendu, je peinais \u00e0 concevoir et \u00e0 comprendre le courage qu\u2019il avait fallu \u00e0 un athl\u00e8te admir\u00e9 dans le monde entier, mari\u00e9 et p\u00e8re de dix enfants, pour prendre la d\u00e9cision de changer de sexe \u00e0 un \u00e2ge aussi avanc\u00e9.\nCette histoire m\u2019a inspir\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9criture de la trilogie AFTER, une \u0153uvre de fiction inspir\u00e9e de faits r\u00e9els li\u00e9s au v\u00e9cu des personnes transgenres.
